exhibition architecture at Art Quadriennale

2020

The project is a sort of ‘critical restoration’ of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, a building which embodies the dark and bright moments of post-unification Italy: from Fascist-era exhibitions about Italian culture to post-war experimental exhibition designs.

The aim was to make this history visible, while tuning down the nationalistic monumentality of the Palazzo which is implicitly antagonistic to the vision of the 2020 Quadriennale, as it’s centered on artistic practices questioning the patriarchal canon in art within the Italian context.
